History

The Monsoon ownership was established in the summer of 2010 and was spearheaded by 2004 US Senate Candidate Stuart Starky. By June 2010 they had established a booster club (The Monsoon Maniacs). The Monsoon announced that ESPN Deportes would be their partner for all Spanish broadcasts, and Antigua Sportswear would be the official merchandiser. Luis Dabo was hired as Monsoon Head Coach. He played for Benfica in Portugal and was Head Coach of the Chicago Horizons of the MISL and the Arizona Sandsharks of the CISL.[2] On November 8, 2010 they announced their affiliation with Pachuca CF from Mexico. What this affiliation contains is currently unknown. It is also unknown what outdoor league they will play in (in terms of either USL Pro or NASL), but in an interview with Stuart he assured people that they will play in 2011.[3]

On March 16, 2011 the Monsoon was awarded a franchise in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) for the 2011-2012 Season. They play in the Western Division.[4]

The Monsoon made their debut playing an outdoor exhibition game against FC Edmonton of the NASL on March 19, 2011, losing 5 - 0.[5]

On October 20, 2011 the Phoenix Monsoon announced that FRE3KICK a clothing company base out of California has become the exclusive street wear partner of the Phoenix Monsoon, FRE3KICK and Phoenix Monsoon will have an exclusive and unique urban co branded Signature T-shirt.
